SCADA Security

Protect supervisory control and data acquisition systems and the processes they run.

Overview

SCADA Security: what it is and why it matters

Topic area with PECB certification programme · Cybersecurity Management

SCADA systems monitor and control industrial and infrastructure processes. Their security combines network architecture, access control, monitoring, incident handling and continuity, with safety and availability usually ranking above confidentiality.

This training explains SCADA and ICS risks, how to design a security programme and network architecture, implement controls, manage incidents and test SCADA security.

Certification pathway

Training, examination and certification are different steps

PECB publishes a Lead SCADA Security Manager programme. IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82 are separate documents and not the same as this credential.

  • PECB publishes the course as 5 days with the exam on day 5.
  • Its handbook describes 150 multiple-choice questions with a 70% pass mark across seven domains; the brochure gives a 3 hour duration.
  • Credential levels depend on experience in SCADA security and project hours.

Certification bodies set and can change their own exam, eligibility and renewal rules. The details below are what the body publishes; we confirm the current position with you before you enrol.
